A mistake by one of Olivia's handmaids was responsible for starting this unfortunate event. King Bartali was furious after learning the fact that Leonardo was from Calpheon. The king imprisoned Leonardo and locked Olivia away inside a tower. The king then hurriedly arranged a marriage between Olivia and the Domongatt family of Serendia.

However, Leonardo was blinded by love, and adamant. Leonardo killed the guard and managed to escape from jail. He went inside the castle and sang a serenade.

"Olivia, you are the love of my life who shines brighter than the morning sun / Please come to the window and wipe my tears away / If our love is not meant to be, I'd rather choose death than to live / Oh Olivia, you whose lips are sweeter than honey, please don't forsake me / I will wait for you under the moonlight until the day comes for our love to continue"

Although their love was pure, it was a crime for someone in line for the throne to court the princess of a land his country was waging war against. Leonardo told Priest Lehard about this event when he returned to Calpheon. Saddened to hear the unfortunate event, Priest Lehard worked to find a peaceful resolution between the two nations.

Shortly after, Lehard asked Leonardo to accompany the Church of Elion on a mission to Olvia. A chance was given for Leonardo to escape to Keplan together with Olivia.

—This suffering cannot be compared to how Leonardo must've felt at that time, but perhaps it shows a glimpse of his dilemma.
Leonardo was ready to be hated by his own people, however I was unable to go beyond from there which is why I buried the key, and I shall bury this sadness in my heart.—
