Chapter 3: Brynhild's Long-Held Wish

She introduced herself as Brynhild, a daughter of Markthanan and, like me, a Black Spirit symbiote.

"It may sound mad, but I came here to kill my father."

She wanted to hear for herself why he had become Hadum's puppet and was draining the land dry. If his answer failed to convince her, she meant to stop him.

It was an unexpected thing to hear from someone speaking of her own father. Though I doubted she had told me everything she truly felt.

She called the Guardian we had encountered in the mine Agnete. Markthanan and Labreska had been enemies for so long that their daughters had hated each other from birth. Brynhild said that when a feud carries on for generations, the reason behind it eventually stops mattering.

I made it clear that, regardless of what she wanted, I might end up fighting Markthanan myself. She asked me to give her the first chance to confront him.

With Grey nowhere to be found, I decided to form a temporary alliance with Brynhild, who had already explored this place ahead of us.
