Chapter 1: Another Visitor

A strange old man stood beside Alustin. Introducing himself as Grey, he said he had crossed over from another world, Elvia, through the Abyss I had stabilized.

"Vengeance. That is all I seek now."

All he wanted was the destruction of Hadum, the god who had laid waste to his homeland. Alustin explained that while Grey's ultimate goal differed from ours, the means to achieve it were the same.

Grey was searching for Ynix as well. For now, that shared pursuit bound our paths together.

Grey told us that the one waiting deeper within was the Black Dragon, Markthanan. Alustin was surprised, having thought Markthanan would still be recovering in the Everfrost. But Grey said that after confirming Agris was here, he had become certain of his suspicions.

Grey offered to accompany me, and we set out together.

The Black Spirit was not so quick to trust him. It found it suspicious how Grey seemed to feign ignorance whenever something important came up, not to mention how his name felt strangely familiar without bringing anything to mind.

Keeping that warning in mind, I stood at the entrance to Markthanan's domain.

Following Grey's lead, we entered what turned out to be a mine. Slaves whose bodies were covered in stone were digging for Black Crystals.

We fought our way past the slaves and Markthanan's servants. Grey said he was certain he had heard one of the miners cry for help earlier.

Had he charged toward us because he wanted to be saved?
