Chapter 5: Mysterious Death

The Traveler and Dolswe heard rumors about a town where every newly appointed Mayor dies on their first night. Moreover, a servant from the nearby house of the First Deputy Minister has died. But there was no evidence, no culprit caught, and too many strange points. Upon closer inspection, it resembled the death of the late King. The body turned dark and after they died hours after eating. Sensing something strange, the Traveler and Dolswe visit the police department to investigate the case.

There, they meet Yangpyeong, Mongryong's childhood friend. But, it turned out that Yangpyeong had been assigned to Bukpo! Yangpyeong, who supports his elderly mother alone, was extremely worried. Then the Traveler volunteers to go as a stand-in Mayor. Being a Hyanghwain and an official of the Royal Secretary's Office, the traveler could do so.

Finally, the Traveler and Dolswe arrive at the Bukpo office. But the Bukpo Yibang greets the Traveler as if he's staring at a dead man walking! It was truly infuriating, but the investigation of the First Deputy Minister's case was urgent, so they decided to endure it for now.

And on the first night at the office. The lamp they lit to read a book suddenly went out, and a beautiful woman appeared before the Traveler. The woman gracefully bowed to the Traveler and said,

"Do not be alarmed. I come with a favor to ask of you.
I am Hongryeon, second daughter of the First Deputy Minister, Bae Muryong,
Mayor. I beg you for justice on behalf of me and my sister.
Please discover the truth about our servant Eunsil's death,
