Since the Papu barterer who came to Velia's tavern to promote the Papu's new business seems like a rookie, perhaps they have not been in the business very long. Their way of trading, bartering, involves exchanging one good for another. It has not been popular from the beginning as there are many difficult conditions to meet for each bartering deal. Besides, there were those who were suspicious of the Papus and the Otters' intentions behind setting up an island bartering system.

It all changed when one day, someone obtained some Sea Coins after bartering from them. The bartering business has since seen a surge in popularity, as information began to spread that the Sea Coins were from a mysterious, misty island and if you take them to the island you can exchange them for items of extreme value.
