On a night when I was trolling along the Velia Coast, I heard a racket from the shore.
Quite curious, I hid me ship in the shadows and crept up to watch the fight unfold.
Otters... surrounded by a group of giant pirates? They seemed familiar somehow, and then I realized they be the ones who would often attack Crow merchant ships.
They were clearly much smaller in size, and quite outnumbered, making it clear that they had no chance of winning. But even still, they attacked viciously anyway. The result was well... predictable. They be soundly beaten before retreating to their base after shouting some poorly-phrased lines like a third-rate villain.

Still, I wondered why I couldn't take me eyes off of them. They be not very strong, so why did they fearlessly attack an enemy they knew would beat them time and time again? I mulled over these thoughts for a bit and when I came to me senses, I found meself already in front of their base.

I heard them warmly greeting their maties, and fell in love with their earnest will to fight for one another in the face of obvious defeat.

Taking them on as me crew was a fantastic decision. It was ten times- no a hundred times- more amusing than when I was sailing the sea alone.
