Chapter 7: Agnete's True Intentions

Agnete said she would hold Grey back and told me to complete Ynix.

But just then, the Black Dragon's daughter suddenly burst in, throwing the battle into chaos. Amid the smoke, the Black Dragon unleashed his breath.

When the smoke cleared, Markthanan stood before us in human form. But it was not truly Markthanan. Lord Grey had taken control of his body.

I barely managed to drive Grey out, but Markthanan was overcome by despair and rage after harming his own daughter. He finally lost all reason.

The black energy seized its chance and swallowed him whole. Markthanan returned to his true form as a massive Black Dragon, and his twisted fury soon turned toward me.

After a long battle, the staggering dragon prepared one final attack. Before he could unleash it, I pierced his heart and took the flint.

The Black Spirit said one of its kind who had possessed Markthanan felt strangely familiar. It had never seen them before, yet somehow it did not feel like a first encounter.

Leaving that question unanswered, I went over to Agnete, who lay fallen.

I asked what kind of deal she had made with Grey. At last, I heard the part of the story she had hidden throughout our journey through the castle.

Grey had agreed to lure me into a dead end, where Agnete planned to strike while my guard was down. But Brynhild's sudden appearance had thrown their plan into disarray.

I thought back over everything that had happened while traveling with Agnete, and only then did I understand the intentions hidden behind it all.

When I asked what she would do now, she told me she was dying.

Before I left, she asked me to end her life with my own hands...

I refused.

Agnete told me that to complete Ynix, the imperfect heart had to be tempered in a dragon's breath. She also gave me a key she had taken from one of the Black Dragon's servants.

She said she would remain there and meet her end beside the body of her nemesis.

With that, I left in search of a dragon's breath.
