"If she's truly from Tarif, she must know something about the dark energy we've been sensing. She might even have insight about Cartian herself."

I nodded at Orwen's words. Anyone with ties to Tarif is more likely to help us than cause trouble.

Just as Orwen had said, a woman awaited us at the entrance to the ruins. She seemed to recognize me. Introducing herself as Gabriella, she explained that she too was searching for Illezra.

"At some point, this place started drawing in Darkseekers and Manticores. Even the dark energy seems to be converging here... why don't we work together? I share what I know, and you clear the path."

Her purpose matched ours, and she possessed knowledge we did not. There was no reason not to travel together.

"I've found ruins that hold Cartian's records—fragments, really. But I believe they're keys, part of a larger mechanism," Gabriella continued.

And if these records were indeed left by Cartian herself, then perhaps here we would uncover the truth of her deeds—and the secrets behind the dark power.
