Chapter 2: Refined Dark Power

"The thing is... the cause of the explosion is suspected to be that black creature that follows you around, Edana."

According to the surviving Hashashin, this power was unlike that of other failures—it appeared almost refined, as though distilled into something greater. The refined strength of the Black Spirit... At least Orwen seemed to sense what was happening.

"This technique—it is the very method used in Tarif," Orwen murmured. "Refining and controlling the power of the Black Spirit... That's a skill only mastered by the Great Sorceress, Cartian."

Though Orwen had never visited Tarif herself, she had studied Cartian's history in old tomes, and now she shared what she'd learned. I remembered witnessing the same technique when I visited Tarif—shadowed rituals and forbidden arts.

Orwen advised we prepare ourselves before entering and suggested we look around. The land was barren—trees withered, earth scorched, and lava oozing beneath a lifeless sky. Amidst the desolation, I felt eyes upon us.

"Hmm...? We've got company. Who's that with Orwen?"

No one from Tenebraum should have followed us here... The woman speaking with Orwen left a cryptic message, saying she would wait at the entrance. Then, shrouded in Tarif's signature dark energy, she vanished in an instant, leaving only silence and mystery in her wake.
