It took me a few tries to understand this one properly. The best strategy is actually the simplest one: you just keep standing where the start NPC is in the middle of the field and keep turning your camera 360° all the time. Whenever you see a scarecrow pop up in one of the four corners of the field with the quest marker on it you shoot it (with a matchlock that can one-shot them of course, i.e. not the rented one). You will finish the game with roughly 15 seconds to spare.
Do not move around like crazy, it just delays your shooting. Also, don't be on a horse - I tried it with the horse, it worked great, but you can't summon the Black Spirit when on a horse with a matchlock.
