The map shows accurate spots where mobs are, but the respawn rate is seriously slow.

It's not slow anymore. (2018-07-24)
I could grind them almost constantly with a T8 horse by excluding the 2 top ones.
Sometimes you have to wait a few secs on a few mobs.

They don't show on the minimap if you have selected "track object" which is frustrating, but using a pickaxe to mine them will speed knowledge gain.
