Roxanne Fiazza was originally from the Fiazza Family, whose ancestral home was burned to the ground during the sacking and pillaging carried out by the joint-expedition lead by Crucio Domongatt of Serendia and Dahad Seric of Calpheon. What had occurred as an accident left Crucio with tremendous guilt, so he did not chase a young boy fleeing from the site, while taking in the young Roxanne, who had survived from the fire, as his own. Everyone around her thought she was too young to remember, yet Roxanne could never forget. Rather, every night she had nightmares, teeth clenched as she vowed to destroy the Domongatt line as they had her own family. Yet during the day she worked tirelessly to become beloved by the king and would later be wed to the eldest prince. When the time came, she advised her husband to seek the throne, encouraged him to criticize his father, fueled his brother's ambition to kill her own husband, then had both her brother- and sister-in-law killed to antagonize the neighboring nation of Calpheon. However, Serendia unexpectedly fought very well, so she collaborated with Calpheon to help them kidnap the princess and later had the king tried on the war tribunal. However, she could not do harm to the loyal young princess who followed her footsteps, and thus feeling that she had fully carried out her vengeance, chose to end her life.

One year later, Crucio Domongatt returned from Calpheon, a mere skeleton of his former self. Based on Princess Jarette's recommendation, he hired Jordine Ducas as his chamberlain as he prepared to abdicate from the throne, and had Carolyn, Roxanne's former handmaid, tend to the princess. Johann Cliff, the ever-loyal subject to the throne who had a hand in the deaths of all of Crucio's sons, was sent to the far-off battle lines against the Imps and was never allowed to set foot in Heidel again. Jordine and Alfonso felt their former teacher's treatment unfair, yet, due to the watchtower incident, kept their silence. And even having lost his mother during the war, Jordine seems to be interested in other matters of late.
