baleia cachalote não se encontra no bdo fish, mas pode ser pescada com arpão próximo da ilha dos piratas. eu pesquei ao lado da ilha de teste.

Grab this quest to keep in your quest log but i wish you the best of luck actually finding a Sperm Whale. Can't find it even on Famme's Map. I have never seen a recording or screenshots of anyone catching one in the NA version.

Can confirm you can catch it in NA at the place being shared (between Iliya and Ajir).

Can confirm you can get it here. I think I was really lucky, caught it in like 20 minutes. Master 15 fishing maybe kicked in. Good luck!

Español: Parece que necesitas desbloquear el conocimiento del algunos otros NPCs del pueblo Chapoteadero, antes de que Bavio acceda a darte la quest. Si hablas con Bavio y no te da la opción, ve a hablar con el resto de NPCs del Pueblo Chapoteadero, y luego regresa con Bavio. A mí me funcionó.

English: looks like you might need to talk to several or all NPCs of Splash Point to unlock their knowledge (if you don't have it yet) before Bavio shows the option for the quest.

Managed to catch the Sperm Whale in the Cron Islands Sea, Ru server. Overall,I spent 4 hours and 3 harpoons, luck was on my side. All you need is a lot of patience

Pesquei entre as ilhas Ajir e Iliya, um detalhe que não foi mencionado é que precisa de 1200+ de Maestria para pegar.
Levei 2 dias e não pesquei, subi a maestria para 1300+ peguei em menos de 10 minutos.

Finally, after losing 7 thick harpoons and nearly 3 weeks, I managed to catch a sperm whale and finish this damn quest. Whoever came up with this stupid quest must be executed!

Finalmente, o local entre a ilha de Iliya e ilha de Ajir, tem que cuidar pra ficar na parte mais profunda, perto da costa na fisga.

EDIT: Ok so i'd written a message here how i had tried everything, every spot and couldn't harpoon anywhere. Well... I was JUST made aware, 7 years into this game, that sometimes with harpooning your char can bug out and while it looks like you're harpooning, in reality you can never catch anything and the only fix is to go to char select and then go back in game. This is clearly what must have happened here because turns out i moved to another spot in deep sea and i still couldn't harpoon and it's when I read about this bug, logged out, went back in, and now I can harpoon. I havent gone back to between Ajir and Illya but i bet it'll work now.... so just be aware this can happen.
