Zaaira emphasized the importance of tools and gave you a Dull Axe to try it out. Cut down Ash Trees and bring Ash Timber x1.

1. Open your inventory (Hotkey: (Inventory)) and equip a Dull Axe.
2. Find an Ash Tree and start cutting it down.

※ Ash Timber can be obtained by cutting down Ash Trees.
※ Any kind of tree can produce a Log at a 100% rate, and its own kind of Timber (e.g. Ash Timber) at a lower rate.
The axe I gave you is cheap,
but it's not very efficient.
Try lumbering an Ashe Tree with it.

There are plenty of Ash Trees just outside the village.

Okay, now try using this axe.
You will feel the difference.
There are better tools that you'll be able to use
once you become more used to it.
