Why do i feel like this quest just took a shit. Someone said something about sulfur mines but there's nothing marked as a quest area there. what did i miss?

You must of missed the part where the quest gives you an auto path up to Gavinya Great Crater. If you go to the node manager, Almori, you can see fire foot prints all over the ground and you follow those.
