Sometimes with 3 Trace of Ascension fails.. 
with 4 i can do them at 100 % (I'm Artisan 5 ALchemy)

Master 3 Alchemy and failing with 3 Trace; 4 is good though.

1 big emperor is enough (so: 1 oil + 1 big + 3 knot + 4 trace + 6 pure powder)
Tried taking one of anything, it fails sooner or later, cant go below 1+1(big mushroms)+3+4+6

The recipe is only 1 Emperor mushroom not 5. Works fine with 1, no fails.
