Rabbit Ear Rock stands watch over Byeot County in Nopsae Pass.
Legend has it that the Heavenly Jade Emperor once dispatched a rabbit to investigate the area, but the rabbit became enchanted with the land and failed to carry out the order.
As punishment for disobeying the emperor's will, the rabbit was put to death. The following day, a rock with an uncanny resemblance to a rabbit's ear appeared where the rabbit had died.
The villagers of Byeot County named it Rabbit Ear Rock and now regard it as their protector.
